Jefferson, Iowa – On Saturday, July 16, 2022, the Jefferson Kiwanis Club is partnering
with the Jefferson Public Library, the Jefferson A&W restaurant, and the Greene County Fair to
host its second annual Story Stroll for children ages four through seven. The event will be held
at the Milwaukee Depot next to the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson. Every child
participant will receive a free book and a voucher for a free ice cream cone at A&W.
This year’s Story Stroll will honor local heroes, including local law enforcement officers,
firefighters, and medical professionals. Story strolls will begin approximately every ten minutes,
with the first story stroll beginning at 9:00 a.m. and the last story stroll beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Kiwanians, Friends of the Jefferson Public Library, and local heroes will be reading two books to
participants. In addition, children will be able to look inside a police car, firetruck, and
ambulance and to meet real local heroes who keep our community safe. All children must be
accompanied by a parent or guardian. In the event of rain, the story stroll will be relocated to the
Jefferson Community Center
