Jefferson, IA – Protect your family, friends, environment, and neighbors when you dump your hazardous waste found around your household. This event will take place from 9 – 11 am on Saturday, August 17th and will be on the north side of the Jefferson City Square.
Accepted materials include: Aerosol cleaners and paints, ammonia based cleaners, anti-freeze, rechargeable batteries, fertilizers, fluorescent bulbs(CFLs), gasoline/kerosene, oil, lead-based paint, stains, varnishes, metal polishes, rust-remover, mercury thermometers and thermostats, pesticides, petroleum-based adhesives, contained sharps and needles, and used oil filters
Not Accepted Items: Ammunition, asbestos, electronics, explosives, fire extinguishers, latex paint, medications, propane tanks, and radioactive materials
These items are NOT your regular trash and shouldn’t be treated as such.
This is a free event for residents. Any waste from schools or businesses first need prior approval before being accepted.
