Dallas Center – Grimes track and field competed at the Drake Relays in Des Moines on Thursday, and were able to post some solid marks throughout the day.
On the boys side, Aiden Ramsey was great in the boys 3,200 meter race, placing 4th overall with a time of 9 minutes and 18 seconds. Ramsey also competed in the 1,600 meter run as well, where he was able to find a 6th place finish with a time of 4 minutes and 24 seconds. In the boys shot put, Carter Boley was able to place a 22nd place finish with a 47 feet throw. In the boys 4×100 race, DCG was able to get 22nd with a time of 44.10 seconds, and in the 4×200 meter relay 14th with a time of 1 minutes and 31 seconds. The 1600 meter distance Medley was able to find the Mustangs in the top 10 in 9th with a time of 3 minutes and 37 seconds.
On the girls side in discus, Kaleigh Lachacz put up a great mark with a 6th place finish of 122 feet and 2 inches, the mark being the best for any sophomore. In the girls 400 meter hurdles, freshmen Vanessa Bickford was able to post a time of 1 minute and 7 seconds, which was good for 14th overall. On the team side, the girls 4×800 meter team was able to post a nice 6th place finish, with a time of 9 minutes and 39 seconds.
Overall DCG had a great day, and will hope to duplicate more performances like that in the near future.
