Local Train Enthusiast Skip Lowe Leads Latest “A Conversation with” at the Perry
Carnegie Library Museum
In July of 1972, Skip Lowe’s dad took his 5-year-old son on his first train ride to Hiawatha. That
day, Skip’s passion for trains took hold. Since that time, Lowe has studied midwestern railroads
and become an expert on their unique history and heritage. He loves to tell the story of railroads
in small towns and the locomotive history in Perry is one of those fascinating stories.
Lowe will share his knowledge and enthusiasm for Perry’s train heritage at a free Hometown
Heritage at the Carnegie Library Museum “A Conversation with” event on Thursday, July 27,
from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Come learn about Perry’s rich train heritage from a local expert and
ask questions. This is a free event and no registration is required. Also, plan to visit the Perry’s
Train Heritage Exhibit from July 19 to August 31. For more information, contact the Carnegie
Library Museum at 515-465-7713 or visit www.perry.lib.ia.us.
