Voter FraudThe statewide primary election takes place next Tuesday, and today we continue taking a look at the only contested race in Guthrie County, for the First District Supervisor Republican nomination, to run against Democratic incumbent Jerry Caraher, in November.

Jim Carroll is one of three candidates vying for the nomination and has decades of experience living and working in Guthrie County. “I’ve been a resident of Guthrie County since 1974. Prior to that, I was just across the border in Greene County, where I was born and raised.”

Carroll believes one thing that qualifies him to be Supervisor is lots of experience serving in public and private sector leadership roles. “I spent 16 years on the Guthrie County Conservation Board, about the same amount of time on the Guthrie County Hospital Board, plus I was State President of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association’s Environmental Committee. Additionally, I’ve been appointed by Governor Branstad to serve on numerous state environmental boards and I was also manager of a business in Guthrie Center for over three years, so I know how to work with employees, customers and public relations.”

Carroll will provide reasons for running and talk about what he feels are some major issues in the County today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
