May is National School Board Appreciation Month.
Greene County Schools Superintendent Tim Christensen says to serve on a school board, means you’re voluntarily giving your time to serve in the community.
“It’s not a paid position and I just want to thank them. They are looking out for the best interest for students and (they) want to give students the best education possible and all of the opportunities as possible. So I just want to thank all the board members for what they do.”
He adds that it’s a thankless job, but he appreciates all those board members, both past and present, that he works with. Plus, for this year’s board members, they also volunteer their time to listen to the public during their new second Wednesday of the month question and answer meetings.
“That’s a huge thing to, to commit another hour basically every other month for each of the board members (and) I really appreciate that.”
Members of this year’s Greene County School Board include Board President Teresa Hagen, Vice-President Dr. Mark Peters, along with board members Ashley Johnston, Mike Dennhardt, Dr. David Ohrt, John McConnell and Sam Harding.
