It was a conference battle for both Tiger track teams Saturday at the Raccoon River Conference meets.
The boys track team battled through a tough field in their second meet at Bondurant-Farrar high school within three days. Jacob West and Reece McLaughlin led the way for the tigers. West had a repeat showing of his 6’0″ first place jump from Thursday, although it wasn’t enough to take the top spot at the conference meet and West’s same jump of 6-0 earned him second place in the high jump. McLaughlin earned a top spot as well, earning second in the long jump with a jump of 20-10.00.
The Tigers will head from one RRC site to another for their district meet which will be held at Winterset high school. ADM will be involved in an 8 team field comprised of ADM, Perry, Greene County, DC-G, Chariton, Carlisle, Saydel, and Winterset. The district meet at the Winterset high school track will be held this Thursday starting at 4:00 pm.
The Lady Tiger track team also battled a tough field in their conference meet. The Lady Tigers found themselves in a tie for second place as a team on the meet. Both teams earned 119 points; for ADM those 119 points came courtesy of two first place, 3 second place, and one third place individual finishes. Senior Maggi Bjustrom led the way as she earned two first place finishes; first in her favorited 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.85 and first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.26. Brianna Mueller continued her great work in the distance events taking second in the 800 meter run with 2:31 and second in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:06.
Anna Kenny joined fellow freshmen standout Sadie Juergens with great freshmen seasons as she took second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.
The Lady Tigers also took 5 out of 7 relay events including the shuttle hurdle, 4 x 800, 4 x 400, distance medley, and sprint medley relays. The girls track team will also be in Winterset for their district meet, starting at 4:00 pm
