The high school track and field regular season ended in Alleman at North Polk High School for the Greene County Rams on May 5. The weather and facilities were both beautiful and the Rams and their coaches were able to look at certain events one more time before the Class 3A May 12 Coed State Qualifying Meet in Winterset.

Dean Lansman is the boys’ head coach at Greene County and he talked about the progress made from the start of the season through the last regular season meet. “When you look at the times from the beginning of the year to where they are right now, obviously, that’s what we wanted to see. We dropped our times again at the North Polk meet and set season bests in nearly everything except a couple of open events. In relays, we shuffled things around a bit, and lowered our times. It has been good and hopefully we’re peaking at the right time going into the State Qualifying Meet.”

Starting time in Winterset on May 12 is 4 p.m.
