Sorensen began on Monday and will paint until just before the Memorial Day holiday on May 30th. As usual, Sorensen tells Raccoon Valley Radio that each side of the rock will be painted with a different patriotic scene. “On the front side, I’m going to do what’s essentially a funeral, with the military guys draping the American flag over the coffin, and overhead there will be an eagle soaring while holding a ribbon that says ‘we don’t know them all, but we owe them all’, and then a flag above that as usual.”

The Freedom Rock is available for anyone to see at its location just over a mile south of Interstate 80 on Highway 25. You can see pictures of Sorenen’s progress in this story at www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
