A new program will help Greene County youth learn about gardening.
Greene County Extension is offering a youth gardening workshop on Saturday, May 14th from 9am to noon. Director Lori Mannel says the program will introduce youth to gardening with the Greene County Master Gardeners.
“There’s so much knowledge with our Master Gardeners. But sometimes, and this is their words, they’re limited in physical ability and getting down and getting into the dirt. So what better way of partnering the wisdom, and the techniques and all of the experience that our Master Gardeners have with the ability of our youth to get down in the dirt and dig and teach them.”
Fourth through seventh grades will learn about gardening techniques, while the 8th through 12th graders will be doing landscaping projects around the outside of the Extension office.
Pre-registrations are encouraged for the free program by calling the Extension office at 386-2138.
