A special ceremony for this year’s Greene County Impact Award winner will be held on Sunday.

Mary Weaver was announced as the seventh recipient of the award that recognizes someone who has made a difference in Greene County through social, educational or cultural contributions. In light of the ceremony, the Greene County Board of Supervisors recently signed a proclamation declaring Sunday, May 1st as Mary Weaver Day.
Past recipients of the Impact award include Lawrence Geisler, The Town and Country Band, Carson Griffith, Vickie and Tim Robbins, Doug Hawn, and Alice Walters.
Through her contributions in her Rippey community, to serving on numerous nonprofit organizations, writing several successful grants and her work as a nurse in the medical field, Impact spokesperson Jerry Roberts says Weaver truly had an impact on Greene County. The people who nominated her noted her gentle persuasion and people skills which resulted in other people getting involved with various projects.
The ceremony will be at 3pm at the courthouse in Jefferson. It is open to the public, with refreshments to be served following the ceremony.
