Administration in the Adel DeSoto Minburn School District are addressing concerns about an unofficial fight club.
Principal Lee Griebel says an unofficial ADM fight club was formed recently, which causes safety concerns for the District. In a letter to parents, Griebel says they found out that a couple of students were injured during participation in the club and some students were pressured into participating against their will.
Griebel says the activities were taking place both in and out of school, which impacts the culture of the building. The principal states that the school has let students know that continued participation in such activities can result in school consequences.
Club members were taking videos of the amateur fights, showing students boxing with gloves and headgear on inside a home. The videos were posted to a YouTube account and also promoted via an ADM Fight Club Twitter account.
The Twitter account has since been closed, the school has talked with students about the potential consequences and discussions have been held with parents letting them know about the talks they had with participating students.
