jake chapmanDozens of people gathered at the state capitol last week to celebrate the third annual Religious Freedom Day.  Among the speakers was Senator Jake Chapman of Adel.

Chapman, a Mormon, says the bipartisan event is brings people of all sorts of backgrounds together.

“This was an opportunity for different religious groups to come together, even though we have barriers with theological differences.  Though we may be separated on some of those religious beliefs and practices, there’s a great opportunity for us to show solidarity in our want to preserve religious freedom. That’s the one thing we can continue to unite on, across all religious faiths, that we must persevere one another’s right to proclaim and profess and to act upon our religious beliefs in the way we see best fit.”

Senator Chapman says the event had an incredible turnout, the messages were well received and he expects the event will continue to grow in the future.
