Perry senior Taylor Lathrum recently signed her letter of intent to participate in track and field at Grandview College next year.  Lathrum has been active in her four years of high school.  She has been a starter in volleyball, basketball and currently is one of the best throwers in the Raccoon River Conference in both the shot and discus.  Not bad for a young lady who wasn’t sure if she was going to play sports in middle school.

“I wasn’t sure about sports when I was younger,” smiled Lathrum.  “Haleigh (Kenyon) talked me into going out for track and I was hooked ever since.  The great thing about playing multiple sports is that you make so many wonderful friends.  I am going to miss all of them and that really is the best part.  You’re not only teammates but you become friends and really care about one another.”

Lathrum and the Jayettes will continue to try and improve with state qualifying meets coming up in less than a month.
