A plan backed by House Republicans to defund Planned Parenthood may be one of the last issues addressed this year by the Iowa Legislature.

State Representative Clel Baudler says he is against publicly subsidizing abortions. “I’ve got no problem with defunding Planned Parenthood, if they are providing abortions. I don’t see that we need taxpayer-funded abortions.”

With many Democrats opposing the defunding measure, Baudler expects a near party-line vote on the issue.
