Staff in the Perry School District, along with Thrivent Financial and local businesses are coming together to help a family in need this evening.
A benefit meal for the Steva family will take place tonight in the high school commons. High school teacher Darin Steva has been ill and racking up medical bills for months and organizer Martha Stetzel says while it is a fundraiser the event is about more than money.
“Darin has been ill for several, several months and he is 100 plus days at the Mayo Hospital. Even more than the dollar and cents of this we were thinking that letting someone know, that has been absent for so long, that they are still connected with the community. We feel like that’s maybe even more of a spiritual boost to him at this point.”
Pulled pork sandwiches, salad, chips and dessert will be served from 5:30-7:30pm for free will donations.
