Winterset earned the team title Thursday at the annual Jayette Relays in Perry.  The Huskies won the event with 122 points, followed by North Polk with 120, Roland Story 99, Greene County 86, Perry 77 and Clarke 76.

Greene County enjoyed a solid night in the field events winning three of them.  Megan Durbin won the high jump with a leap of 5-4, Janelle Brophy earned first in the long jump with an excellent 14-3 and Kenna Marquardt solidified first place in the discus with a toss of 111-9 ½ feet.

The Rams earned first place in the Sprint Medley and second in both the 4×200 and 4×100.  Olivia Hansen scored points in the 200 meter dash with a second place time of 28.69.  Chantel Flack took 2nd in the 800 with an impressive clocking of 2:37.04.

Perry’s Grace Stewart continued to lead the way for the Jayettes placing 2nd in the 1500 and 3rd in the 3000.  Mariah Duffy was right behind Stewart in the 1500.

Emma Olejniczak was busy in once again performing well in 4 events.  Olejniczak placed 2nd in the 400 meters at 1:05.88 and 4th in the 800 with a time of 2:39.58.  Head Coach Matt Hardy has been impressed with the improvement Olejniczak is showing.  “Emma and Sidney (Vancil) competed at a very high level in 4 events tonight.”

Haileigh Kenyon scored the first long jump points for Perry in nearly 2 years placing 5th with a leap of 12 feet 6 inches.  Kenyon scored points in the 200 with a 6th place finish at 30.28.

Taylor Lathrum placed third in both the shot put and discus.  Her throws measured 32-10 in the shot and 88 1 ½ in the discus.

The Perry 4×200 and 4×800 scored with the 4×200 picking up a great anchor leg from Isabel Saemisch to sprint Perry from 5th to 3rd.  Hardy also pointed out that Breanna Penenger was an integral part of the relay’s improvement as well.
