The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday night in regular session.
During open forum, a steering committee presented information to the Council for the Freedom Rock project. Committee Chair Dawn Rudolph said a new rock will be placed at the fairgrounds for the artist, Bubba Sorensen, to paint in April 2017. Preliminary plans are being discussed, but a total of $50,000 will be needed for the project, with the first phase to cost about $30,000. The committee would like the main theme to be in honor of President Dwight Eisenhower’s motorcade when it came through Greene County on the Lincoln Highway in the 1930’s.
The Council approved the appointments of Jane Martino and Mike Piepel to the Jefferson Library Board, hiring Randy Antonin as the animal shelter custodian for 20 hours per week at $7.25 per hour, hiring Eric Fisher as a water service worker with a salary of over $32,000, purchasing the property at 200 East State Street for $100 and a roofing proposal for $30,400 from Greel Roofing for the former Linda’s Fashion building at 111 East Lincoln Way.
The Council set public hearings for April 26th’s meeting for development agreements with Mark Bauer Development Company for economic development payments to not exceed $900,000 and Tri-County Cash Lumber Mart to not exceed payments of $600,000.
