The Perry Chamber is still hoping to raise some more money to hit their goal for this year’s 4th of July fireworks display.
Executive Director Bob Wilson says so far they’ve raised around $9,500 but they’re not done yet.
“Anytime you shop at Fareway or Hy-Vee you can round up to the nearest dollar, five dollars, ten dollars, whatever it is. Just say ‘Add 10 bucks’ and they’ll add it to your bill and you’ll pay it right there. All that money continues to go to the fireworks, your fireworks that are going to awesome on the 4th of July. You’re going to see us out there as a board kind of off and on, encouraging, you know, begging, pleading, whatever for more donations. Then it ends all on April 16th. It is a friendly competition. It’s so neat to see two entities work together but in this competition there’s no loser. We all win in this deal, we’re all going to work together and make this the best 4th of July fireworks display we’ve had yet.”
Right now the competition is close, with the two stores separated by around $10. Stay tuned for running totals all week on KDLS. Donations can also be dropped off at the Chamber office.
