The Guthrie County Supervisors met Thursday.
The Board unanimously approved a five-year plan for major road and bridge projects presented by County Engineer Josh Sebern.
Sebern says the first year of the plan has the heaviest workload, with each subsequent year getting lighter.
Sebern adds his department does the best they can in maintaining infrastructure with the resources and funds they have, noting that some of the pavement on roads is nearly 60 years old, but he says his staff does a good job of prioritizing what areas need to be fixed and replaced each year.
Sebern told the Board that conditions of secondary roads and bridges in Guthrie County are on par or better than those in similarly populated counties in the state.
Additionally, Sebern outlined upcoming patching plan project areas. He says some notable roads scheduled to receive patching include County Road P32, which connects White Pole Road to Diamondhead Lake, County Road N58, which goes to the Coon Rapids ethanol plant and County Road P28 southbound. He hopes to patch needed areas at a cost of about $97/square yard.
