stuart cityFor nearly four decades, Stuart Congregate Meals has been providing a place for elderly residents to eat and socialize, as well as deliver food to homebound individuals.

Volunteer Bob Cook says attendance rates have recently dropped and the organization now needs a surge in attendance to ensure that their funding is not cut. “They really need the local support right now from anybody that can come and dine there. Their annual budget review is in May and it will benefit the program if we can maximize the number of meals served in April. We’re trying to get the word out that anybody 60 years old and over is eligible.”

Meals are served weekdays at 11:30 at Stuart’s Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. Cook will tell us more about the issue today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
