isu-extensionParents of young children are invited to learn how to share a love of books with their kids this spring.

The Dallas County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach office is hosting a Family Storyteller program starting today.

Parents will be taught key skill such as previewing a book, using expression as they read, pointing to pictures and labeling, having children predict the outcome of stories and linking the book to real life experiences.

It will be offered in both English and Spanish each Tuesday from 8:30 until 19am, along with a Spanish only session from 12:30-2pm.

There’s no cost to attend and participants will receive a free book and fun activities to take home each week.

The program takes place at Perry Head Start. To register or get more information, call 490-2298.
