perry schoolsTomorrow is the statewide tornado drill and entities all across Iowa will be practicing what to do if a storm hits their area.

The Perry Community School District will be participating in the drill and Superintendent Lynn Ubben says they are always looking at ways to keep students and staff safe.

“We are looking at that and revamping some of our things just because we get new teachers all the time, we get new people all the time, we sent a group to (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) training and we’re updating our security at our buildings so we’re looking at all of that together.  Things have changed, not only with weather, but safety and security.  We used to lock the door and you all huddled and we don’t do that anymore.  You know, what do you do if you’re on a bus and you get this information?  So those conversations happen and need to happen.”

Ubben and the Perry School District are in contact with us here at Raccoon Valley Radio so when storms effect classes or activities you can count on us to bring you the information first, fast and accurately.
