Greene County FFA wrapped up National FFA Week with a pancake breakfast fundraiser on Friday.
Dozens of people were served pancakes and sausages at the Ram Restaurant at the high school in Jefferson. Advisor Katie Akers says the goal of their event is directly integrated with the goal of FFA.
“Well I think the goal is always just to get the students involved in the community and teach them how to serve others, that is part of the FFA’s motto is serving. That’s an element that we place a lot of focus on. Getting them in front of the community and teaching them how to be aware of the needs of others and serve those needs.”
President Wade Wuebker explains why he enjoys participating in their annual event.
“Seeing those people in our community come back out and show support towards our local FFA chapter. It’s a good event we put on during National FFA Week to celebrate agriculture, which is such a big commodity in our world and it’s not going to go anywhere, it’s here to stay. So when local townspeople or people that live out in the country or on a farm come out and support of local FFA chapter, it just shows everybody’s true passion here in Greene County for agriculture.”
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward functions and projects for the local organization.
