A reminder to everyone in Greene County that nomination papers are now available for some of the elected offices coming up for the primary election in June.
The available seats include Sheriff, Auditor and three Supervisors in districts one, three and five. Supervisors Mick Burkett for district one, John Muir for district three and Guy Richardson for district five, along with Auditor Jane Huen have taken out papers. Sheriff Steve Haupert will not seek another term and will retire at the end of the year.
If someone wishes to run for one of the available county seats, Democratic candidates must get at least 25 signatures and Republicans must have at least 32 signatures. Papers are available at the auditor’s office during regular business hours or on the Secretary of State’s website at http://sos.iowa.gov/elections/electioninfo/primary/index.html.
Papers can start to be turned into the auditor’s office on March 7th. The final day is March 30th by 5pm. The primary election is on June 7th.
