Jefferson SirenThe Greene County E-911 Board recently entered into an agreement to inspect all of the severe weather sirens in the county.

Emergency Management Coordinator Dennis Morlan says the agreement is with a company in Panora to do the inspections. The E-911 Board originally purchased all of the sirens. Each siren is equipped with a dual system, which in case of a power failure, the siren could run for another five minutes if needed. The sirens are tested each night to make sure that everything is functioning properly.

Once the inspections are complete, Morlan notes that the reports will be given to each city and it is up to them to take care of any repairs.

Morlan says this is a great opportunity for the E-911 Board to help with maintenance of the sirens and get them ready for the statewide tornado drill that will be happening later in March.
