Thirty people have applied to be Guthrie County’s next deputy sheriff.

Sheriff Marty Arganbright says candidates from all over Iowa and several different states will travel to Guthrie Center this month to test for the position. “On February 27th, we will hold the physical fitness and Police Officer Selection Test (POST), which is a written test. All of the individuals that pass those tests, we will also hold interviews that day for each applicant.”

Arganbright says out of the thirty applicants, only a handful are certified law enforcement officers.
