Greene County Medical Center recently added new technology.
Electronic whiteboards allows a patient to access information such as dietary needs, care instructions, provider photos, upcoming appointments and a discharge checklist. Information is transferred through EPIC, the hospital’s electronic medical records system. The medical center is working with Innovatient Solutions, Incorporated and it is the first of its kind in the state.
Once a patient is admitted, they can watch a welcome message from Chief Executive Officer Carl Behne; followed by a page with the provider, aide and nurse information, which is displayed by the name and a photo of who is providing care. There are also educational videos on a variety of care subjects, along with the goals of the day and details of the patient’s stay are included. Upon discharge, the patient can watch a thank you message from Chief Nurse Executive Katie Heldt.
There are many phases that the medical center will go through with the new technology, starting with phase one which includes the who, what, when and how for a patient’s stay.
Other features of the electronic whiteboard are the ability to split the screen with the whiteboard and watch regular television simultaneously, watch a relaxing photo or play relaxation music.
Carl Behne is excited about utilizing the new technology.
“It’s a great solution for not only our patients and their families, but also for our nursing staff. It’s going to be a wonderful tool to keep patients informed but also give them opportunities for education and information during their stay and hopefully they are going to be able to see some great value from that.”
Greene County Medical Center is committed to providing the best care possible for patients.
