Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina visited Guthrie Center’s Prime Time restaurant Wednesday morning.
The former Hewlett-Packard CEO talked about her disappointment in realizing nothing major is ever accomplished by the federal government. “How long have we been talking about fixing illegal immigration? 25 years. How long have we been talking about caring for our veterans and reforming the VA? At least 20 years. How long have we been talking about reducing debt and deficits, so we’re not mortgaging our children’s future? Forever.”
Fiorina also expressed disappointment in how the mainstream media is covering the election. “If you turn on the television, it’s like a sporting event and we know the media has figured this all out. The media thinks there are only three people running now. It’s Hillary Clinton, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump. Nobody else matters to the media right now. The political establishment is trying to hurry this race up and whittle down the field no matter who the right answer is. Politics is covered like sports, my team versus your team and talking about what the most outrageous thing said yesterday was. The only trouble is, politics isn’t a game. Politicians and the policies they create affect all of our lives every single day.”
After the speech, Fiorina fielded questions from the 50-person audience about topics including the Second Amendment, lowering the national debt, shortening the tax code and protecting social security.
