Greenfield residents and police have noticed a stray calico hound dog running around the community for the last three years.
The Greenfield Police Department says that after co-existing with the canine for so long, they’ve decided it’s become a nuisance by recently causing traffic issues, and are trying to catch it this week.
The Department says they would release the animal into custody of an experienced dog handler, but that person would be responsible for paying for all vaccinations before taking ownership of the dog.
Because the dog has essentially been a wild animal for the past three years, the Police Department says it might not be a good fit for many homes.
If the dog is caught and unclaimed for 48 hours it will be put down. For more information, call the Greenfield Police Department at 641-743-2323.
