Playing for the second night in a row on the road didn’t work out so well for the Greene County High School basketball teams. The Rams lost in Boone Tuesday night on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com one night after splitting two games in Winterset.
The Class 4A number 15 Toreadors quadrupled the score on the Greene County girls, 80-20. Claire Sandvig scored 19 points to lead five Boone players in double figures. The Rams were led in scoring by Hannah Promes with four points. Boone is 6-2 on the season while the Rams lost their fifth straight and are now 2-7.
The Rams lost 72-49 in the boys’ game. Greene County was without Trey Tucker and his nearly 22 points per game scoring average due to an ankle sprain suffered during Monday night’s double overtime win at Winterset. Mitchell Gorsuch had 11 points for the 2-6 Rams while Ethan Lewis of Boone made six three-point shots and finished with 27 points. The Toreadors sank 12 three-pointers in all, three times their normal output from beyond the arc.
