West Central Valley WildcatThe Iowa School Report Card scores for all of the state’s districts have recently been released.

West Central Valley Superintendent Dr. David Arnold says the scores are volatile, adding that smaller districts, like West Central Valley, can be easily affected by only a small number of students performing poorly on standardized tests. “When you have a higher population of special education kids and a higher population of Free and Reduced Lunch kids, you tend to have lower scores. When you have smaller class sizes, it really impacts the total population of it. One student can knock you down from 100 percent proficiency to 93 percent.”

We’ll wrap up our conversation with Arnold today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
