Conversations with Coffee kicks off today in Perry but don’t fret if you can’t make it. Organizers are hoping this will be a regular event.
Iowa International Center Executive Director Dr. Judy Conlin will lead the program, which she says is modeled after a successful series that has been going on at a Des Moines library for more than three years.
“It invites English learners to practice their English, at whatever level you are. You just want to have an opportunity to talk with people. It brings the English learners together with volunteers and it’s a wonderfully comfortable, easy program where people there are very welcome, where there’s a lot of positive feedback, where we just kind of pair people up with matches that are helpful.”
Today’s first session takes place at 9:30am at the Dallas County Hospital’s 10th Street Bistro and the conversations will continue next Wednesday at the same place and time.
