With the possibility of the Guthrie Center School District entering into a whole grade sharing agreement with another district, the future of Guthrie Center sports hangs in the balance. Head football coach Mark McDermott says whether his squad joins up with Adair-Casey, another school or remains alone, he wants to stay on board. “I plan on staying on as a football coach here. Definitely want to still be involved. We’ve got a lot of good kids and a lot of good talent for next year. If we can coach up a few others, we’ll have a pretty good season.”
If a whole grade sharing agreement is passed between Guthrie Center and Adair-Casey, Coach McDermott has said it is likely that the two teams would combine to form an 11 man Class 1-A team.
