The Jefferson Public Library is gearing up to host a skit later this week for their annual Halloween event.
Children’s Librarian Terry Clark says this year’s skit is based off the book, “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Book?” by Lauren Child. It will be presented by Herb and the Fairy Tale Crew. The main character Herb changes the outcome of the book by adding different elements such as cutouts and sticky fingers. Clark invites everyone to find if the story ends happily ever after. She points out that kids love seeing a book played out in real life.
“As advocates for reading to children, we love to see our little ones getting excited about having a book read to them. But with this event, they get to see a different perspective. By bringing a book to life, we can make the characters step right off the pages.”
The skit will be in the basement of the library from 5 to 7pm on Thursday. Each show will last about 10-15 minutes in groups of 10-15 people. Plus, kids can receive treats and trinkets at the library. The event is free and open to the public and no registration is necessary.
