The Algona Bulldogs defeated the Perry Bluejays on homecoming at Dewey Field by the final score of 52-14.

Perry was unable to contain Algona’s running game, as the Bulldogs scored on their first two offensive plays. On the first play from scrimmage, Noah Arrowood took the handoff and scampered 64 yards untouched for a touchdown. On their next possession, Arrowood again ran 44 yards for a score on the first play of the drive. The Perry offense would come alive in the first half, pulling to within 21-7 on a 24 yard touchdown pass from Ryan Rathje to Tavier Lucas. Algona, however, would respond with a 17-0 run to end the half.

On the opening drive of the third quarter, Adan Medina hauled in a 20 yard touchdown pass from Rathje. Rathje finished the night 8-20 for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Eli Saemisch carried the ball 7 times for 94 yards. Meanwhile, Tay Lucas finished the evening with 138 all-purpose yards and a score.

Algona improves to 5-1 on the year, while Perry drops to 0-6. The Bluejays will travel to Greene County next week for the annual battle for the cowbell.
