ADM strength and conditioning coach Tyler Bohkle’s main job, like most other employees of the school district, is to teach. It just so happens he has a passion for athletic training.
A first-year science teacher at the high school, Bohlke said he’s always been intrinsically motivated to train and share his passion for training.
“I started at a very young age. I think I walked into the weight room for the first time when I was 12,” Bohlke said. “Just kind of watching the stuff like that, I really enjoyed the training aspect of athletics, so I always maintained that up until college, and then I got an opportunity to see more of the coaching and training, some strength of conditioning stuff. I guess it’s always been a passion of mine from there, so it’s always been more of an innate thing more than external motivation for me.”
Bohlke has helped consolidate and focus what had been a disorganized strength and conditioning program since taking the position in June.
As it turned out, the timing of the hire was perfect for both parties.
“When I applied for ADM, when I heard back from them, I told them I would be more than happy to do any coaching and stuff like that, told them what I would be interested in,” Bohlke said. “It just so happened that they were looking to implement a new strength and conditioning program, so all the pieces seemed to fall together for me to come to a school like ADM.”
