There’s never a good time for any sports team to suffer a bout of a contagious disease, but the ADM volleyball team is going through it at the best possible time.
The Tigers and their head coach, Mary Beth Scott, have dealt with the effects of a team-wide cold that thankfully won’t directly effect their record. ADM (9-10) has the entire week off from competition and doesn’t take the floor in a game that counts again until Tuesday in Adel against Ballard.
“For us, it’s great,” said Scott of the timing of the team-wide cold. “Two years ago, quite a few of my players had the flue and we played Bondurant and it was kind of like the game [to decide the] conference [championship] and we did not perform well, but I had quite a few with the flu. So I’m really fortunate that, OK, let’s get this out of our system this week while we have some time.
“And even next week isn’t to bad with one match on Tuesday and then we go to Dubuque [for a tournament] on the weekend. It is a good time to kind of rest them and they want to enjoy homecoming and we don’t want to tire them out, so it’s just trying to find that balance that will work.”
