Greene County allowed nearly 500 yards of offense at Algona on Friday night and they face another offensive minded football team this Friday on the road when Coach Dean Lansman’s team meets Creston/Orient-Macksburg in Creston. If the Rams are going to get back on the winning track, they likely will have to shore up the defense, which allowed 496 yards to the Bulldogs, 460 of that total on the ground, and 80 offensive plays.

Greene County had 360 yards of offense in Algona and senior quarterback Daric Whipple accounted for much of that total. He ran for 141 yards and two touchdowns and also connected with senior receiver Reid Lamoureux on two others through the air. Whipple had 196 passing yards.

The Panthers and Rams are both 2-1 as they enter the non-district contest on Friday night. C/O-M won twice over Greene County in 2014, both in the regular season and the first round of the Class 3A playoffs. The Panthers advanced all the way to the semifinals of the playoffs last season and they were preseason top 10 rated before a season opening loss to Norwalk. Since then, the Panthers have one-sided victories over Clarinda and Winterset.

Friday’s game will be broadcast on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
