Several of our Raccoon River valley communities were recently granted funds for first-time homebuyers.
Region XII Council of Governments named Jefferson, Scranton, Stuart, Panora, Perry and Redfield among the recipients of the Down Payment Assistance with Rehabilitation Program. Communities apply for funds to assist first-time homeowners in making down payments on a home. Money can also be used for rehabbing a home after closing.
Jefferson and Coon Rapids received $412,500 for ten projects with a match of $25,000 for each additional rehabilitation. Scranton, along with Glidden, Templeton and Willey received $206,250 for five projects with a city match of $12,500 for additional rehabilitation for being a Home Base Iowa community.
Stuart received $192,500 for five projects with a match from the City of $12,500 for technical fees. They also get $35,000 in grants for down payment on construction of a new home.
Perry, Panora and Redfield received $206,250 for five projects for being designated as Great Places Communities with a city match of $12,500 for additional rehabilitation.
All funds are granted for 2016.
