The Perry High School football team is still searching for their first victory of the young season. Head coach Jason Olejniczak points out that physical play is one of the missing ingredients, “There’s still a few positions that need to be more physical, the physical play was there, but it has to be even better this week.” The Bluejays are coming off of a 24-0 road loss to the North Polk Comets, and the coaching staff can sense that their schedule will not get any easier, with the start of district play looming.

Perry enters tonight’s showdown at 0-2, while Gilbert checks in at 1-1. The tigers are fresh off of an offensive showcase with Boone that resulted in 77 combined points and a Tiger win. Perry will face the Toreadors to open district play next week, but will first look to avenge a 35-0 loss to Gilbert a year ago. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30 pm.
