September is National Preparedness Month. Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf says it’s a great time to review your home’s emergency supply kit. “Now’s a good time to go back through and freshen it up. Water you shouldn’t save for over a year, so if you have old water, you want to replace that. You can replace some of your old dry goods, like granola bars, and things like that. Check the batteries in your flashlight. If you have a crank up radio or flashlight make sure that’s still working. Give it a few good spins and make sure it works alright.”
Kempf adds that it’s also a good idea to keep an extra bottle of prescription medicine or other personal items in your supply kit.
