Whether for or against the Iowa Hawkeyes, Jefferson Rotarians cheered former Iowa quarterback Chuck Long on Monday. The CEO/Executive Director of the Iowa Sports Foundation was in town to speak to the Rotary Club of Jefferson. His primary focus was his job as the over seer of the Iowa Games, Live Healthy Iowa, adaptive sports Iowa, and Iowa senior games, but his days with the Hawkeyes, eight seasons in the NFL, and a dozen more coaching on the collegiate level, certainly came up.

Long told Raccoon Valley Radio he doesn’t mind telling stories about those days. “The stories actually do get better (with time) and people want to hear them. They’ve always been loyal to me and I’ll always be loyal to them, and I don’t mind sharing those stories.” He was the 1985 Heisman Trophy voting runner-up to athletic superstar Bo Jackson.
