The high school football regular season gets underway tonight on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com when Greene County visits South Central Calhoun in Lake City. Coverage begins at 6 p.m. with kickoff at 7 p.m.
Coach Dean Lansman and the Rams will be trying to win a season opening game for the first time since 2011, and Jefferson-based teams have dropped their last five meetings with Lake City-based teams. The Titans won 12-6 a season ago in Jefferson.
The Greene County coach talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about some of the positives he took from the preseason. “Our Captains have done a great job of leading. We have a senior class with quite a bit of varsity experience, but not much experience on the varsity level beyond that class. It’s been fun to watch them lead the younger players and help them. We have a half dozen or so players on both sides of the ball with a lot of experience, but need to develop depth beyond those seniors.”
