A fairly inexperienced Perry volleyball team picked up some early season confidence Thursday night defeating Fort Dodge St Edmond in the season opener. The Jayettes earned the sweep winning 25-21, 25-11 and 25-21. The two returning hitters from last year’s squad led the way with Ellie Nielsen and Grace Marburger finishing with 7 kills each. Sidney Vancil shined in her first varsity start as she was able to get the ball to the big hitters with 19 assists. Marburger added 4 ace serves Johanna Diw tacked on 3 ace serves. Nielsen led the way with 11 digs while Victoria Hegstrom provided 3 blocks. Libero Mariah Duffy finished with 3 digs.
Perry is now 1-0 on the season and will take part in the Bondurant Farrar Skip Anderson Tournament all day Saturday.
