There are several different antique stores that have made Greenfield a destination for treasure hunters from all over the region. Patsy Ahnen, owner of First Street Antiques, has been there longer than most, selling for 35 years. Ahnen has seen trends come and go but says antiquing is as healthy now as it has ever been. Nostalgia, she says, is a hot seller right now. “You’ll find that probably 50 to 60 percent of the people buying are buying something they remember. They’ll comment, ‘my parents had this’, or ‘I remember this as a child and I want it back.’ So, they’re buying back their childhood.”
