The NO. 12 ADM Volleyball Tigers started the season off strong by taking second at the six-team Newton Invitational Tuesday night at Newton.

The Tigers (4-1)  lost only to Class 5A Dowling Catholic and beat the host Cardinals, Carlisle, Knoxville and Oskoloosa in the round-robin, three-set-per-match tournament. ADM also won eight of 11 sets, dropping one set to Newton and two in the loss to Dowling.

Head coach Mary Beth Scott said her team has plenty to work on but called the second place-finish a “good start” to the season.
