Greene County hosts just one cross-country meet per season and there are some changes to the event this season. After years of it being held on the high school grounds in Jefferson, the Sept. 10 middle school/high school coed meet is being returned to Spring Lake Park northeast of Jefferson, where it was held years ago.
Ram head cross-country coach Kelly Simpson said admission will also be charged, which hasn’t been the case in past years. “We’ll charge five dollars per car, so load up the vehicle with as many people as you like, it’s simply five dollars per carload.” The coach added that the public will primarily park along the west side of the lake.

The Rams open the cross-country season tomorrow (Aug. 27) in Ames on the Iowa State University course for the Gilbert JV/varsity coed meet at 4:45 p.m.
