As a freshman on varsity, Jordan Hook was an absolute revelation for the ADM volleyball Tigers last season.

The younger sister of front-liner Brennan, Jordan stabilized ADM’s defense with gutty, athletic play at libero, where she racked up 205 digs in just 44 sets, good for a 4.66 digs per set average that ranked sixth in Class 4A.

So Hook will be counted on again to anchor the Tigers defense, right?

“Well, she won’t be libero right now,” said ADM head coach Mary Beth Scott. “Again, we lost a lot of hitting power, so we’re moving Jordan to the outside to hit, and she’ll certainly be playing in the back row as well, so she’s going to be on the court the entire time. We need her to be able to put the ball down. We’ve been talking with her about working on her vertical and that.

“But she is [good at digging]. She just has really good court sense. She’s really excellent at digging and passing , and we’re going to try to make sure that she’s involved in every serve-receive and take advantage of that, so she’ll definitely be on the court.”

That’s the current reality facing Scott, who is forced to ask players to switch positions because of the five seniors she lost off last year’s squad. She told Raccoon Valley Radio on Wednesday she preaches the importance of being willing to play other positions to her players, and the need for it has presented itself in a high volume this season.

ADM opens the regular season August 25 with a four-team invite at Newton.
