rock hungerThe Perry and Adel Lions Clubs are again participating in a contest for a good cause this fall.

Rock Hunger in Dallas County started in 2014 as a way to celebrate the rivalry between the Perry Bluejay and Adel De Soto Minburn Tiger football teams, while collecting food to help local residents in need.

Organizer Dave Wright with the Perry Lions Club says last year the river rock trophy went to ADM after the football game but both communities collected around 1,000 pounds of food each.

“We’re trying to teach more than one thing, that winning is important but the fact is no one loses when you raise money for the food pantry, so everyone’s a winner.”

Wright says the Perry Lions will be going door-to-door looking for donations the week of August 24th.  The Bluejays and Tigers will meet on the field in Perry Friday, August 28th with kickoff at 7pm.
